The tree was believed to be a seedling before Wisconsin became a state in 1884. By 1963, when named in Jackson’s honor, it had become a magnificent oak. Photo taken Feb. 28, 2023. Oak died in late 1990s. Still stands tall, casing long shadow. The Jackson Oak is among the trees in the book, “Every Root an Anchor; Wisconsin’s Famous and Historic Trees” by R. Bruce Allison.
